Dezi Pics Week 5-6

It has been awhile since I put up some pictures. Working and coming home to Dezi and mom doesn't leave much free time in the evening to catch up on blogging.

New Beginnings

I really enjoy spring because it brings new beginnings with all of the plants and flowers blossoming. We have a lot of plants around the house that bloom throughout the year and the season started. Dezi coming into the world this spring made me think about his new beginning and what the rest of the seasons will be like as we go into summer, fall, and winter with him.

How this started is that each day I look out the kitchen windowand look for any new blooms and this week I saw three that caught my eye. The reason they caught my attention is because they have never bloomed together before. Since we have been in our home there have only been two that bloom each season. However this year three bloomed. It made me think that this was a symbol of our family and a new beginning for us this spring.

Dezi's Doctor Appointment

Dezi had his check up today and it went well. Dezi is now 10lbs and 22 inches long. He is average weight but he is in the 60 percentile for his length. He is healthy and doing great. Dezi's next appointment he will be getting his shots. Dr. Aunt Dana isn't Dezi's doctor but she gave Dezi a quick look over this weekend when we made a visit to Columbia to see her. She thought he was a keeper.

Dezi this Week with Mom

Mom and Dezi hanging out at the grandparents house. One morning this week Mom emailed me a picture from her phone with the caption "Poopy Face". This is the face Dezi gets when he relaxes. I thought he was blowing kisses not poop!

Great Grandma Barnes and Dezi

Here is Great Grandma Barnes and Dezi the day before Easter. This was taken on my phone and now that I can post to the blog directly from my phone I will be able to do some spontanious postings. This is really exciting to me as it is technology running my life as usual.

Keeping Busy

I have not had much time this week to update the blog. I have been keeping busy with work this week and after-hours events and house work. I have some pictures from Easter to post with Dezi in his Easter duds. Mom, Dezi, and me haven't had many pictures together because mom or me have been behind the camera. This Easter we were able to get a picture of all of us. I will get the picture up as soon as I can.
Dezi and mom are doing great. They have been spending the week in Missouri at grandma and grandpas' house. Melissa and Dezi have also spent some quality time with the great grandparents. I have missed the family at home so I'm ready for them to return and I'm hoping it will be awhile before mom decides to leave with Dezi for that length of time again.

Dezi before Bed Time

This is my first attempt to create a short video clip. These are some pictures I took before bed time tonight. I promise they will get more elaborate, longer, and more enjoyable. I'm still learning to use the software and the technology. I enjoy it but there just isn't enough time in the day to do everything I would like to accomplish.

Papi Feeding Dezi

Papi got to feed Dezi tonight. Dezi took his first bottle this evening and I would say it was a success. We introduced a bottle of mothers milk warmed up from being frozen. It worked better than we anticipated. We weren't really sure what to expect but we wanted to try it. We know that eventually Dezi will be eating his meals this way during the day when mom goes back to work. I think it is also good so that if mama wants to leave the house for a couple of hours to run some errands she will be able to do so and I will be able to do a feeding. It was exciting to be able to feed Dezi myself. It didn't take much to get him to take the bottle but I know he still likes being cuddled up with his mama.

Friends in the Neighborhood

Last week we had Tom, Liz, and Valeria visit us last week for dinner. We had plenty of food, conversation, and baby feeding in the house. It was nice evening visiting with the Carignan-Rodriguez family. Dezi got to meet one of his future school and playmate. Valeria had her eyes on Dezi all night. I don't think Tom will be letting Valeria date until the age of 35. It was the unspoken word of the father of a daughter.

Almost 3 Weeks Old

Dezi will be three weeks old this Friday. Every day we are excited to see what new takes place with Dezi. He seems to be sleeping better but we aren't really sure because we are continuing to find our way being parents and trying to get into a routine. The challenge we face is getting him to take his naps in his crib. The most comforting place for him is on mom. He loves the comfort of napping on mom. Mom is feeling well but really needs to personal time during the day to do things around the house. Our goal is to get his napping in the crib to last more than 10 minutes so mom can get some breaks during the day. I have been stopping in during the day for lunch so mom can do a few things for herself just to break the cycle of her being confined to the couch. We know if will get better and these times will go by quickly once we look back on them.
